My adventures at another Shoppers Drug Mart

(not the shoppers i worked at)
as the title says, “another shoppers drug mart” i wasn’t working at my own workplace for the past few days. i was working at the shoppers on Markham and Sheppard, behind Petro Canada. i wasn’t fired, or relocated. i was “helping out”, because they’re failing to maintain their store. They had incremented 11k worth of stolen merchandise, damaged, and missing from receiving. that is messed up.
that store just recently opened too. they opened october 2008. my boss actually recommended me to apply there when i was new at my store. and look at the huge bullet i dodged nao.
so ye. any failing shoppers asks help from other shoppers to reorganize their store, with pay. but you hav to work an 8 hour shift and do your job they assigned you properly. also, there will be other workers from other shoppers to work along with you.
as i was working i found some pretty interesting things that shows how lazy their workers are. i worked 2 days, monday and tuesday 9-5. but i’ll be combining both days of experience in this one post. start.
Day 1.
i woke damn early for this. hell i was only supposed to work Tuesday only 9-5 for this store, but sunday night co worker who was gonna work the 9-5 shift couldnt make it. “things came up”, jus like the friday the week before this. so ye, i covered him for the monday and traded my tuesday shift. so ye, woke up damn early and arrived 30 mins before starting. not knowing anyone who i was gonna work with, i decided to stand around the bus stop listening to music. hell at least it looked like i was waiting for the bus, and not look like a standing idiot. 5 mins before start i went in, looked for the manager or who ever was supervising and found her. her name was Feldt, ye i had trouble pronouncing her name each time i called her so i avoided calling her by her name. i’d jus directly ask for my tasks and certain details of my task and what not.
first task of the day, bring new stock out into the floor. not literally floor floor, but the merchandise area where customers go shopping. the back room is called the back room, and the shopping area is called the floor. i brought stock out into the floor, and i was working with another dude from shoppers from Ajax. his name was Matt, and he was a metal head who loves Iron Maiden. i know because he was working with an Iron Maiden concert t shirt, and not wearing the proper shoppers uniform.
after taking new stock out, it was time for 2nd task. Matt was re assigned to something else, and i was assigned to stationary. it was ass. ther was a crap load of unorganized over stock of pencils, pencil crayons, and other school related merchandise in the back room. I had to take each shelf out, make sure it was filled in the shelf, and if the product is not in the shelf that means it is not regular merchandise. and it had to be sold to get rid of it, because if its not regular merchandise, then you shouldnt have it at all in ur store. that’s how it goes. took like 5 hours to organize what is regular merchandise, what is not, and take em out to fill the shelves.
and as i was taking stationary out into teh floor, a magazine fell. two actually. it was hidden with the stationary overstock. so im like. wth? how the hell did Auto Performance and GQ magazine end up in the back room? especially since auto performance had a hot bikini model in front. i guess i kno why its hiding in the back room. someone’s being lazy and looking at bikini models hiding in the back room instead of working.
1pm, it was lunch time. the store ordered pizza, vegetarian and cheese. no pepperoni. one guy complained that ther was no pepperoni. how can they not order a simple pizza like pepperoni. its such a common order. while we were eating it was pretty awkward. it was dead silent cus we dint kno each other. till Matt brought up the weather to start convo, and one guy suggested to start teh convo with soccer instead. which was pretty smart, rather than bringing up weather. and ye, started talking bout sports for the lunch period.
2pm. lunch is over, back to work. i finished stationary, nao it was time for Pet food and kitchen utensils, because the over stock for those items were beside stationary. Pet food, no problems, not a single product the store shouldn’t be keeping. then it was time for the kitchen utensils and mops. mops no problem, kitchen utensils no problem. as i was stacking the paper plates way on the top shelf i turned around and saw something.

this is the store’s radio. it plays w/e crappy music it has. whether it be gwen stefani, taylor swift, or others that i do not want to say, it plays it. and this is what i saw on top of it.

its a freakin Nintendo Power fucking Magazine. wtf really? nintendo power? and why would they hide it up there…….iguess no one could see it there and prolly no one can see him hiding there reading his damn cheats for his crappy nintendo games. i was surprised when i saw this. quite funny actually.
end of the day, was changing to proper everyday clothes when my co-worker who was taking the tuesday called and said he couldnt make it. so i was like serious? ok i’ll take it since i needed the money. so i was gonna return the next day to help out some more.
2nd day. i had more fun on the 2nd day. because one i knew the guys from the previous day, and two i got to work with the freezer. yes, the freezer, as in frozen foods ooh la la. lol. Feldt asked for a volunteer to work in the freezer and i quickly put my hand up and took it.
the freezer, it was kinda small, and when my partner opened it it was a huge mess.

you couldnt walk anywhere without stepping on anything. teh ice cream boxes where open/damaged, boxes were everywhere, and Halal meats were filling the freezer. so first task, take the Breyers ice cream and see if the regular shelf can be filled. if ther is no room for it, that means teh store shouldnt be keeping it. i found the non-fat ice creams weren’t supposed to be carried. they carried regular ice cream, soft creamy ice cream, but not the non-fat ones. really? non-fat ice creams shouldn’t be carried? why not? its healthier for the customers if they carried the non-fat ones. i guess it wasn’t supposed to be sold anymore.
so ye, as i was putting out the ice cream i found this

OMFG!!!!! an opened half eaten ice cream. i was even more amazed with this. nao its jus not hiding in the back fapping to auto perfomance, nao its hiding in the freezer and chowing down on ice cream. wow……. that was gross. and lol xD
ye, i gave it to the supervisor to throw it away, and i kept organizing the freezer. also found some frozen peaches by Europe’s Best. u kno……teh fruit commercial where the father dint want to eat the steak, but ate the vegetables. or the on with teh son eating the fruits and not the ice cream which was served along with the fruits. ye, that commercial. it was that brand. so ye, frozen peaches weren’t supposed to be carried. my partner, which was an assistant manager at another store, was told to mark it down. so he did, and i continued organizing while i give him stuff to clear out of the system and mark down some products they weren’t supposed to carry.

i was organizing ice creams together

and lean cuisines together. lean cuisines i say you wont get pretty lean eating them. cus damn if you look at the health thing at the back, their sodium content is pretty high. you wont get lean from eating “lean” cuisines, you get high blood pressure and heart attacks from “lean” cuisines. pretty ironic.
and yea, i was working IN the freezer. you couldn’t leave the door open for a long time because the freezer wont be cold to keep the food chilled, and the head office will call to say you should close the freezer before it breaks. so i was working IN the freezer with the freezer door closed. what i noticed, its not jus a regular freezer, its a freezer that blows cold chilling air when the door is closed. so i was working with the door closed, and cold air blowing inside. i was pretty numb working there most of the day. but it was awesome seeing other ppl’s reactions. i went out to keep warm and one guy joked “thawing out?” ye….i was lol.
1pm, lunch time. they ordered pizza again, but this time they had pepperoni. we were happy with that. yet again it started off quiet and awkward. so i brought up the previous day’s convo. the weather. lol. they laughed, cus they knew it was yesterday’s convo. since i worked in the freezer i went out to buy coffee at the Tim’s across the street. came back and talked again with the other workers.
lunch time ended, back to teh freezer. finished working, organizing, and taking out the expired products, and putting aside the products they shouldn’t be carrying. i gotta say, the pile they shouldnt be carrying was mostly Halal meat.

this is only a small glimpse of the 4 foot by 6 foot by 5 feet tall size pile of products they shouldn’t be carrying.
if they took all the products out, they would have a lot of room for products they actually sell. teh pile was massive.
my task was done, and it was almost quitting time. i got to free roam in the back and the store. a bit till Delft gave me another task.

these guys were putting the baby diapers unto another shelf, which they weren’t supposed to. Delft told them to put it back. lol

ye thas how they got up there. i did that too, and i say….i felt like spider man doing it xD.
5pm, it was quitting time. blonde girl left and said to Matt “goodbye, it was nice working with you”
matt dint say anything. when blonde girl left, he told us he couldn’t say teh same bout her. cus apparently to them she was quite a bitch. i dint care, i’d still tap her ass against her will. xD
i changed into normal clothes, then said goodbye to the rest of the team i worked with. it was nice workign with them and they said it was nice working with me too. ye…..i wasnt’ a bitch. lol. i said goodbye to Delft, Anab teh owner, and my freezer buddy whom i worked with for they day.
oh and remember that frozen peaches i mentioned earlier…….my partner marked it down along with frozen pizzas that they weren’t supposed to carry. he marked it down to .99 cents. i was like really? i double cheked with the cute cashier and it was really .99 cents. and so………

i bought 12 of them. lol.
it was a pretty good experience working at another shoppers apart from my own. it was fun meeting and working with new people, and it was kind of a bummer that i had to return to my store todai and work there again with my boss. so hopefully there will be other stores that also need help, because i would like to do this again and see more lols from their store. it was quite fun. hopefully next time i’d hook up with a girl there. lol.
